Mickey Guyton Shares 'Love My Hair' From Upcoming Debut Album

Country pop artist Mickey Guyton recently shared a new song from her upcoming debut album Remember Her Name.

Written by Guyton with Anna Krantz, the song "Love My Hair" continues the theme of self-acceptance and embracing differences that is a thread throughout Remember Her Name.

The Capitol Nashville singer said she wrote the song after seeing a video of a little Black girl who was sent home from school because she was told that her hair was too distracting.

"Seeing this young girl's embarrassment and agony brought me back to my own struggles with self-love and I wanted to write a song to this little girl facing adversity because of what God gave her. I want her and anyone facing similar struggles to feel seen," Guyton said.

Regarding the album, Guyton said, "Remember Her Name is a culmination of the last ten years of my life in Nashville."

Fresh from earning her first ever CMA nomination for New Artist of the Year, she is set to release Remember Her Name on September 24.

John Prine Tribute Shows Postponed To October 2022

John Prine Tribute Shows Postponed To October 2022

A series of music shows paying tribute to late folk legend John Prine in Nashville has been postponed to next year.

The week-long tribute shows were originally scheduled to begin on October 3 and culminate on October 10, which would have marked Prine's 74th birthday.

The tribute series, titled "You Got Gold," has now been rescheduled to Fall 2022.

Announcing the delay, Prine's family and record label Oh Boy Records said the current surge of the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to make the decision.

"In light of how John died, we just could not reconcile pushing forward and adding any undue stress and anxiety during an already fraught season," they said in a statement, referring to Prine's death in April due to complications caused by COVID-19 at the age of 73.

"Our family wanted nothing more than to gather with you all and remember John together. We very much look forward to seeing you all next year when we can gather safely and joyfully, and truly be together as a big family and community to remember and celebrate the life and songs of one extraordinary man," the statement added.

Nelly Planning 'Heartland' Follow-Up Featuring Female Country Artists

Nelly Planning 'Heartland' Follow-Up Featuring Female Country Artists

Nelly recently said in an interview with Country One that he is working on a follow-up to his Heartland EP.

The new project, which Nelly expects to release next year, will feature female country artists.

While releasing the Heartland EP, Nelly said, "This album here, we're looking at the first part of a two-part series."

Notably, the Heartland EP features an all-male lineup of artists, and Nelly said that is by design.

"If you look at this one, there is no female representation on this album. So, part one was me with the guys, and part two will be with the ladies of country music," he said.

Nelly has not mentioned specific female artists he is working with for the upcoming project, but said, "The women of country, they are fierce. When I am with the guys, we are kegging, beering, trucking, smoking and hanging out."

"I'm going to have to bring my A-game pretty much when it comes to dealing with the ladies because they are not going to play around with Nelly," he added. "They are going to bring it, and I am definitely looking forward to it."

The singer said the project will take some time to happen due to the pandemic protocols.

"I know we're still trying to get around the [health] issue, and everybody's still trying to make sure that we are all respecting one another and it's safety first," he said. "If it weren't for that, I would be in Nashville right now trying to cram it out."

Brantley Gilbert Pays Tribute To Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan With 'Gone But Not Forgotten'

Brantley Gilbert Pays Tribute To Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan With 'Gone But Not Forgotten'

Brantley Gilbert paid tribute to the 13 American soldiers killed in an attack at the airport in Kabul in Afghanistan by posting his song "Gone But Not Forgotten."

"13 brave American heroes made the ultimate sacrifice for freedom this week. In hard times like this, I always find myself turning to music. I wrote this song a while back as a tribute to all of the folks we've lost, both overseas and in our own communities here at home," Gilbert wrote on Instagram. "Wanted to share it with y'all in hopes it might resonate with someone who needs to hear it right now."

The song looks back on memories, including those who died too young.

Gilbert's grandfather and uncles all reportedly served in the Armed Forces. In an interview in April, he said, "Servicemen and servicewomen are heroes, and I believe the families they leave behind in order to serve are the unsung heroes."

"They're also making sacrifices to ensure our health and safety," he added. "I wanted to make sure they knew that we appreciate them just as much as we appreciate those in the uniform."
