Maren Morris’ ‘The Bones’ Wins Song Of The Year At 2021 BMI Pop Awards

Maren Morris‘ “The Bones” was named Song Of The Year at the 69th Annual BMI Pop Awards. Morris co-wrote the genre-crossing sensational song with Laura Veltz.

The singer, songwriter, and record producer also performed the song during a special online celebration of the BMI Pop Awards.

A metaphor for the importance of a strong foundation in a relationship, the chart-topping single appeared on Morris’ sophomore album, Girl, and climbed to No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The melody could be heard on pop, country and alternative radio, fueling its massive success and becoming the biggest hit of Morris’ career.

Last year, the song received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Song and won both Single of the Year and Song of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards.

This is the first BMI Pop Award for the pair, who already have a combined total of 14 BMI Country Awards between them.

Songwriter of the Year was awarded to Halsey, while Sony Music Publishing received the Publisher of the Year award for the ninth time.

BMI also honored the songwriters, publishers and administrators of the 50 most-performed pop songs of the previous year.
