Kelly Clarkson covered Selena Gomez‘s “Rare” for the “Kellyoke” segment on her talk show, “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” on Wednesday, January 6.
The pop singer performed an upbeat version of the track wearing a long purple dress, while she was joined by her band on stage.
“It feels like you don’t care/ Why don’t you recognize I’m so rare?/ I’m always there/ You don’t do the same for me/ That’s not fair/ I don’t have it all/ I’m not claiming to/ But I know that I’m special, yeah/ And I’ll bet there’s somebody else out there/ To tell me I’m rare/ Make me feel rare,” she sang.
“Rare” is a song from Gomez’s third studio album of the same name. It was released alongside the album as the third and final single on January 10, 2020, by Interscope Records. It peaked at number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Clarkson has covered several classic songs since “The Kelly Clarkson Show” premiered, including Amy Winehouse‘s rendition of “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” Tina Turner‘s “A Fool In Love,” Aerosmith‘s classic “Dream On,” Donna Summer‘s hit “She Works Hard for the Money,” and Shania Twain‘s “No One Needs To Know.”
