The pandemic’s quarantine has led people to work from home, cancel holiday plans and stay home when they can. But staying home means you still need to find ways to get your work done, communicate with friends and family and celebrate special occasions. Thankfully technology right now lets us achieve some type of togetherness. Below are a few ways you can connect to those around the world.
PHONE CALL – If you don’t have a webcam or computer but still want to connect, you can call your friends and family and use speakerphone. Hearing your loved ones voice is bound to make your quarantined days better. FACEBOOK MESSENGER – If you have a Facebook account you can use Messenger to make voice and video calls over the internet. Chat with one person or with a group of people. Join messenger HERE.
FACE TIME – Connect with family and friends around the world with FaceTime. Make audio and video calls from your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch to other iOS devices or even a Mac. You can FaceTime up to 32 people at once. This app is available only on the App Store for iPhone and iPad HERE.
GOOGLE DUO – Simple, high quality, encrypted video calls on Android phones, iPhones, tablets, computers, and Smart Displays like the Google Nest Hub Max. Create a group with up to 12 people. Then, tap the group name to easily start a group video call. Download on Android or iOS.
GOOGLE HANGOUTS – Connect with your family and friends anywhere with easy to join video calls. You and your friends will need gmail accounts, once you have that you can send an invite to whoever it is you want to talk to, up to 25 people can share a Google Hangout.
HOUSEPARTY – Houseparty is a video app you can use to stay connected. It gives you a split screen to look at callers in the “house” and allows 8 people max. There are also game options to play with those on the call. They also have a Facemail feature where you can leave a video message for someone to receive when they open the app. It’s available for iOS, Android, macOS and Chrome.
MARCO POLO – An app that lets you send video messages that are only a few seconds long. March Polo saves videos so you can have a running conversation with your friend/family member or group of friends. You can download the app for free from the App Store or Google Play.
